The total amount of muslims currently living in the world is 1.57 billion which would make it the 2nd largest religion on the earth (the first is christian, which has a population of about 2.5 billion). The majority of muslims live in Southern Asia and northern Africa in countries like, Pakistan, Afganistan, Iran, Irag, Syria, Egypt, Sudan, Libia, Algeria and even parts of Spain.

Introduction to Islam

Islam is the religion that came out of the Qur'an, a book which means single incomparable god in arabic and by the islamic prophet muhammad's demonstrations and real-life examples. The word islam is a homograph, having multiple meanings. One meaning is the total surrender of oneself to god. Islamic tradition holds that previous messages and revelations have been changed and distorted over time. Muslims Believe that Muhhammad is the prophet of islam. Muhhammad is consistently worshiped by all muslims and is considered a god to most muslims.

Religious practices include the five pillars of islam, which are five duties that unite muslims into a community. Islamic law touches on vurtually every aspect of life and society. Islam is the predominant religion in much of Africa, the Middle East and major parts of asia. Large communties are also foud in china, russia and caribbean. About 13% of muslims live in indonesia, the largest muslim country. In all there are about 1.57 billion Muslims around the world.
